Top Comment: Hey guys—thanks so much for doing this AMA! I'm doing my dissertation research on a few aspects related to popular musicians in Seoul—namely, how musicians make a life outside of their lives as performing musicians. These AMAs have been great for me to pitch questions to people when I'm not in Seoul. So thanks for your time, and even more thanks if you see/answer this question! I have a million questions I could ask, but I'm always perpetually curious about how musicians define "success" and "failure." As you are currently signed to a very small label, and so your chances of being successful (in terms of like record sales, YouTube views) will probably not be as likely as groups signed to major labels. (No offense, as your music is quite enjoyable, and you all have nice voices to boot). Considering this, how would you define having a "successful" career? Or what would be your expectations to say that being an idol group was worth it? Since you all are multilingual (something that's quite common in Korea, but not so common for musicians), I'm quite curious about how international recognition may play into this notion of success (if it does at all), as opposed to more monolingual groups who may only be marketable in Korea. This is kind of a mouthful, so kudos if you read this far. Best of luck with your upcoming tour abroad!
Mont: In-depth Review
Main Post:
Overview
Mont is a fantastic unit that I highly recommend everyone (whale or f2p) to build. His shards cost gil to purchase enabling you to LB5 him much easier than other MRs (except event MRs during their respective events). He is capable of dealign good damage even though he has a lot of tank skills. He is especially good right now because Orlando & Frederika (both lightning element) are both common in arena/gw/live matches and Mont being earth element both means that he will do more damage to them while being naturally resistant to their blows.
Stats (Lv 99 J 15/15/15)
Cons
Mont has low agility (only 46 base, with +2 from ability board). In terms of a pure tank, he is outclassed by Englebert (who starts with 1000+ more base HP) - this is expected as he is an MR.
Pros
I started off with the cons first because there are so many pros! Although he is not as tanky as Englebert, he more than makes up for it with his +4 move and having access to killer blade, which has a range of 2. This effectively means that he can hit an enemy 6 spaces away. He has a passive +30% ATK buff and an active ATK buff (discipline). His Killer Blade abiltiy does 25% more damage to humans; all opponents in arena/GW/live matches. This ability combined with the ATK passive & ATK active buffs, with his 6 effective range makes him capable of dishing out a lot of damage for a tank.
His jammer edge skill will interupt anyone in the middle of casting an ability. It is a nifty ability which has won me matches because opponents have often forgotten about it. Also know that opponents take increased damage when they are casting a spell.
His TMR has an active ability which grants up to +25% Agility in a AOE-1 range for 3 turns. Although his agility is slow, this might help to alleviate his low base Agility a bit.
In PvE, in addition to having Move 4, he also has Jump 2, letting him maneuver around the battle field more easily. He deals good damage to a lot of enemies having both Beast Breaker (+25% damage to beasts) & Killer Blade (+25% damage to humans).
Classes
His 3 classes are Lord, Paladin & Knight. Of these, Paladin is what I recommend and run with (I have seen some people running him as Knight too). Sentinel gives him a huge DEF + SPR boost. Sentinel is area where his low agility may come in handy. If he moves towards the enemy & uses Sentinel, there might be instances where the enemy takes 2 turns between when his sentinel is cast, and they would deal minimal damage in both of those turns. You can utilize it to set up a "big-move" turn. I personally like using Immortal spirit during PVP battles giving him an extra turn, or soaking up an extra turn's worth of damage from someone, but there are a lot of people who would rather not take it as he always prioritizes it over other buffs on himself.
VERY IMPORTANT IF RUNNING PALADIN: DO NOT UNLOCK DIVINE GRACE - If you get this ability, in auto battles your Mont will run around your allies and take turns casting this on as many allies as he could. This means that he is not at the front lines tanking damage, where he is supposed to be. [Name was edited, was incorrectly called divine protection before)
**Auto Battle Tips (Arena/GW)**You want your Mont to go forward, towards your enemy, not run backwards/towards your allies. The best way to have Mont go forward, is to not give him any buff that he would cast on allies. This includes his TMR (give it to someone else instead). If he has nothing that he can cast on allies, then he will use immortal spirit/Discipline/Sentinel & move towards the enemy - which is what you want him to do.
Live Match Tips
In live matches, opponents can easily ensure to stay out of Englebert's range (he only has move 3, and very limited ranged options). It is much harder to stay out of Mont's range (6 squares when he can cast killer blade). Mont can safely advance towards the enemy with Sentinel/Immortal Spirit. Even if an enemy like Mediena/Sterne/Frederika manage to kill him when he moves forward, and his immortal spirit triggers. That 1 attack from your Mont on them might be all you need to win the match. Side note: opponents often forget that immortal spirit has been cast since there is no visual indicating this.

Say what you will about Mont but at least he uses his ranged skills at max range... Which is more than I can say about my mages who have a deathwish and charge in to cast their stuff point blank on melee who one shot them with basic attacks.
